Nestled between 17th and 21st streets along Broadway Avenue in downtown Indianapolis lies the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park: a 14-acre park that is the heart of the Kennedy-King neighborhood.
Kennedy-King, named for the improvised historic speech given by Robert F. Kennedy announcing the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., also features a public pool, basketball courts, picnic areas, a playground, the Landmark for Peace Memorial and an honored community history.
A Hidden Gem
Kennedy-King is a true hidden gem on the Northside of Indy. The rich history of this vibrant neighborhood is why Onyx+East chose to develop Townes at Kennedy-King: a new townhome community featuring open concept living, private garages, covered terraces—all just steps to the Monon Trail.
The Best of Both Worlds
First, it has all the conveniences of an urban neighborhood, with walkable bars, clubs and restaurants nearby. It’s just blocks from delicious restaurants like Foundry Provisions, Tinker Street and Loco. Scarlet Lane Brewing Gastropub, Mashcraft, Festiva and West Fork Whisky are perfect places to meet up with friends. Kan Kan Cinema, Greg’s and The Fowling Warehouse are just a few places close by if you’re looking for great entertainment.
Conversely, it’s far enough removed from downtown to feel like a tight-knit community with a phenomenal park and the Monon in the center of it all.
Townes at Kennedy-King
Then, there’s the townhome itself. With open, modern floor plans and designer interior finishes, enjoy all the benefits of a new construction home. Townes at Kennedy-King features our two newest floor plans, the Truxton and the Tannin, with the option expand your outdoor living space with a third-floor walkout terrace. Upgrade to add a chef’s kitchen or luxe bath. A community courtyard makes a quick dog walk easy, and you never have to worry about yard maintenance.
A Neighborhood Investment
The city of Indianapolis is also embracing the bright future of Kennedy-King and announced last week that it is investing $5 million on improvements in the neighborhood, including:
- A celebration and event plaza
- Eternal flame artwork with interpretive panels
- A new pavilion area along the walkways
- Expanded parking
- A connection to a new pedestrian pathway along North Park Avenue
- And new walkways and seating areas
These improvements continue to honor the legacy of this neighborhood and park, encouraging greater unity and connectivity throughout the neighborhood.
